My Review Of Twitdar

Twitdar From Serenity Integration

If you've ever wanted a big red button with a cover on it, you're going to love this app. It won't fire nuclear missles at your enemies, but it will send your GPS coordinates to your friends. Once you've rallied them all to your location, maybe then you can figure out how to get your hands on those nukes, or have coffee, whatever you decide.

From the time you set up Twitdar, to the time you send your first location update to Twitter, this app proves to be very user friendly with it's easy to understand instructions, and even easier to use one-button interface. Keep in mind that this is not your standard Twitter app, but rather an enhancement to your mobile Twitter experience.

Once you've connected Twitdar to your Twitter account, you'll start to see a whole new aspect of Mobile Social Networking. Twitdar may even encourage you to get outside and find new and interesting places to send location updates from.

Twitdar has two basic functions, the first of which is to allow you to update your Twitter followers with your current GPS position on Google Maps. The second function allows you to send waypoint "Tracks" to the GPS Visualizer website so your twitter friends can see your current route of travel. Your GPS position and current tracks can be sent from Twitdar in a variety of ways which are all fully customizable from the options screen, and everything is explained nicely in the included instructions screen.





From the options menu you can customize a message that will be sent along with your current GPS location or set of tracks. Through customized messages you can not only show your location, you can also give a short description of where you are or where you are going. With personalization such as this, the possibilities are endless as to ways you can use Twitdar. Whether you're showing the location where you live, or showing the route you take when you go on vacation, Twitdar will pinpoint every move you make.

Not only is Twitdar a great app, but it is backed by a great Development Team as well. I've had the pleasure of communicating with Serenity Integration through emails and Twitter, and I have to say that they are a very personable bunch of guys, with lots of patience, and I'm very impressed with their level of customer service and technical support. These things rank high in my book, and I can honestly say that you can't go wrong when dealing with Serenity Integration, so go and grab Twitdar today.

My Review Of Fast Finger

Enzo Keller has done a great job of keeping things simple in Fast Finger. With a very organized layout, Fast Finger has everything you need on one screen. You can access all three time trials, view your high score for the current time trial, and play each of the time trials all on the same screen.

There are three buttons at the top left of the screen for the three different time trials in this game. You can choose to test your dexterity for ten, thirty, or sixty seconds at a time. Each time trial has it's own individual high score which is saved within the game, and each score can be posted, via email, to the global scoreboard.

Submitted high scores are shown as total taps in the specified time period. The in-game scores are displayed as total taps, as well as taps per second, or t/s. The taps per second are broken down into two halves. For example, if you are playing the thirty second time trial, you are shown your taps per second during the first fifteen seconds and the last fifteen seconds. This is an interesting feature, as it shows whether your tapping is consistant, or if your speed needs to be improved during a certain interval.

There is a seperate screen which displays all three of your high scores in each time trial, along with your highest average taps per second. It is from this screen that you can send your high scores, via email, to be listed on the global scoreboard. I found it odd and slightly inconvenient to have to leave the app to send an email with the high score on it, but I'm sure over time this will be looked into by the developer. An in-game score submission system would definately complete this app.

Fast Finger is simplistic in design and, after looking at the scores on the leaderboards, is quite challenging and frustrating at the same time. If you enjoy a challenge, then this game would definately be for you, just be careful not to wear out your tapping finger.

My Review Of Seaman Count

If you can get past the inuendo in the game's title, you can have a decent time playing this game. The basic premise of Seaman Count is that you are a sea monster on the ocean floor, and your goal is to eat the seamen in numbered order as they randomly appear on the screen. If you take too long to find and click on the numbered seamen, or click them in the wrong order too many times your sea monster gets poked by a fork that slowly creeps down the right side of the screen. Clicking the correct sequence of seamen quickly will prolong your side-dish destiny.

Seaman Count is a fast paced game which tests not only your hand eye coordination, but your memory at the same time. If your memory is sharp it will help you to recall quickly where a specific numbered seaman popped up in the playing field, and it will also help you keep track of which number comes next in the sequence, which is vital to the game. Don't worry if you lose track of the next number though, because there is a red indicator at the top of the screen which keeps track of the next number for you. I found this to be quite helpful, but it does cost you a second or two of time when you look up to check the number, then look back to find it in the playing field. Remember, time is of the essence, and it keeps you from becoming calamari.

During gameplay I took notice that the playing field becomes very crowded and chaotic. For every seaman that you click on, a tentacle reaches up and grabs that particular seaman, dragging him to the murky depths. As each seaman is dragged down, a white speech bubble with a big red exclamation point appears above their head, and they tend to cover up the new seamen that are continuously popping up. This in itself makes the game very challenging and adds a new and interesting degree of difficulty.


I was surprised to find out that Seaman Count uses the same online profile system as Eyegore's Eye Blast(a game I reviewed prior to this). The online profile was developed by Agon and is a welcomed sight in my personal opinion. Through the online profile you can:

-Upload a photo avatar from your phone’s photo roll.
-Edit your username or use an alias.
-Invite friends
-Compare scores with your friends or local players.
-View your wall of achievements and post comments.



Priced at $0.99 in the app store, Seaman Count is a welcomed addition for anyone who appreciates a game that challenges the senses. This deep sea game will test your mind in ways that you've never fathomed possible.

My Review Of Eyegore's Eye Blast Graphical Version

Before I start, I wanted to say that I am especially excited about this review because it is going to appear on AppGirlReviews' website. I was enlisted by AppGirlReviews to become a reviewer for their site. This is my first review that will be published by someone other than myself and I am very excited about it. Thank you so much AppGirlReviews for taking a chance on me, and allowing me to review for your website.

Now on to the review.

Eyegore's Eye Blast

Just in time for Halloween, here comes Eyegore's Eye Blast. This game is not only fun, but challenging as well with two modes of play. In the spirit of jewel shooter type games this is the spooky version of the classic game.

Deep in what appears to be a mad scientist style dungeon, you find your self eye to eye with Eyegore's stockpile of eyeballs swinging from a rusty chain. You may find that odd, but where do you keep your stockpile of eyeballs? Eyegore has his eyeball shooter in the room and needs your help to sort out the rest of his eyeball collection.

The object of this game is simple and self explanatory, shoot the different colored eyes into the pile to make matches of three or more similar colored eyes. What's not so easy about this, is that when the eyes hit, the whole stockpile starts to spin unpredictably. Alot of timing comes into play here as you now have to tilt your phone back and forth to create a swinging motion until you get just the right angle for a well placed, well timed shot. If the swinging motion doesn't help, you can always try banking the eyeballs off the walls. This seems like alot of effort for this type of game, but it won't go unrewarded. Every time you make special combos or certain trick shots, you will unlock achievments that you can post to Twitter and Facebook or compare with friends through an online profile that you can edit yourself.

-Compare scores with your friends or local players.
-Twitter and Facebook Integration.
-View your wall of achievements and post comments.

Challenge Mode:

Challenge mode has three difficulty settings; Easy, Medium, and Hard. This mode of play is not timed, and offers a variety of different shaped clusters of eyeballs to shoot at.

Puzzle Mode:

In Puzzle Mode you are racing to make the best time. The object is to clear the eyeballs with as low a time as possible while still getting a high enough score that you can compare against your friends, or other players in your area through the online profile that you created.

Features:

Overall, this app truly sets itself apart from other jewel shooter type games by making full use of the features built in to the iPod Touch and iPhone. First of all, it uses the accelerometer for the back and forth swinging motion during gameplay. This seems to be a one of a kind feature as other similar games have static, non-moving game boards. Another nice feature of this game is that it allows you to listen to a full playlist of music from your phone's library. There's just something really cool about rocking out in a mad scientist's dungeon that appeals to me. Make sure you load up on songs though, as the playlist does not seem to loop once it has run through all your songs. Lastly, you can edit your online profile with the option of adding a picture from your photo roll as an avatar. The online profile is used to keep track of scores, compare with friends, and post to Twitter and Facebook.

My final thoughts:

Eyegore's Eye Blast is extremely addicting and loads of fun. I can highly recommend this game to anyone who has ever enjoyed playing jewel shooter style games. Retro Dreamer has taken this genre to a whole new level with Eyegore's Eye Blast. This is a very well made game, with seamless gameplay, and beautifully rendered graphics.

My Review Of Ransom Letters From More Blu Sky (@mbsky)

Simplistic, Creative, and Intuitive, "Ransom Letters" is loads of fun. As the name suggests, you can express your creativity through Ransom Letters. Confused? I'll Spell It Out For You.

Are you getting the picture? Ransom Letters uses custom lettering that looks like it was cut from various magazines and newspapers to spell out whatever message you want. You can type your message on a plain, simulated white paper background, or over top of your favorite photo from your iPhone or iPod Touch camera roll.




The possibilities for creativity are seemingly endless with this app. You can use Ransom Letters to caption your favorite "I Can Haz" photo, create your own internet meme, or send your roommate an MMS message(from very far away) telling him you borrowed his car.





Anything you can imagine, you can now put into words with this easy to use app. Of course, these are only a few examples of the things you can do with Ransom Letters, and I'm sure there are lots of you out there that can come up with tons of hillarious new ways to use Ransom Letters.

The Ransom Letters app has certain features which stand out and make it truly customizable. The first feature is "Pinch To Resize." Once you've typed your message, you can use the pinching gesture to make your text larger or smaller so that it fits just the way you want it. Note here though, that all of your typed text gets resized at the same time, so you may want to use Ransom Letters' second outstanding feature to enhance this first feature.

The second feature is "Shake To Select" which is pretty self explanatory. You shake your phone and the text changes. Although this feature produces random results, it is quick and easy to find a "font" style that fits your needs.





If you aren't happy with what you've created, you can always use the "Reset" feature which gives you a few different options, as pictured below. The really nice part of this feature is that you can reset as often as you like, until you're ready to save your photo.

Now that you've finished editing your Ransom Letters it's time to save your creation. This time you get two options for saving your picture. Both options save the picture to your camera roll, but the second option gives instructions on how to upload your photo to the Flickr.com website.


Overall, I am very impressed with Ransom Letters, as this isn't a gimmicky throw-away app, but rather it's a quick, easy, artistic way to enhance your favorite photos before you share them using Flickr Upload or by texting them to everyone in your iPhone contact list. I am confident that anyone would enjoy using this app over and over again.

Sneek Peek At Glyder 2 From @GluMobile (Screenshots)

For anyone who doesn't know, or missed out, @GluMobile sent a message out on Twitter a short while ago, and asked if anyone would be interested in helping with the development of their upcoming sequel to the widely popular iPhone Game, Glyder. Of course since I'm a huge fan of Glu Mobile Games, I quickly responded that I would be more than happy to contribute to the development of Glyder 2. Shortly thereafter I was contacted via email by Glu Mobile. They asked a few questions to get a general idea of what their fans liked about the original title(Glyder). They also asked if there was anything that we, the fans, would like to see incorporated into the game. After re-opening Glyder on my iPhone(Strictly to research my replies), I set about answering Glu Mobile's questions and submitted them via email. Today I received feedback from Glu Mobile in the form of Screenshots that have Never-Been-Seen outside the Glu Mobile offices. The screenshots are not exclusive to myself, as there are fans all over the world who have been contributing ideas to the development of Glyder 2. Although, I am very pleased to have received these screenshots that I can now share with all of you. Without further ado, I now present you with a first look at screenshots of Glyder 2 from Glu Mobile.

So there you have it, a first look into the development of Glyder 2 for iPod Touch, and iPhone. If you're a fan of Glu Mobile, I am sure that you will be excited about the new features which are being incorporated into the new game. From looking at these screenshots alone, I can honestly say that I believe this sequel will be an enormous hit in the iTunes store, proving once again that Glu Mobile is one of the greatest app/game developers around. Not only have Glu Mobile listened to their fans, but they have delivered a true, fan inspired work of art.
