My Review Of ADD

Dude, I'm totally supposed to be writing a review right now. Yeah dude, I should be writing, but I just can't put this new game down. Yeah, it's awesome dude, you gotta check it out! Yeah it's called A.D.D. and it's FINALLY in the iTunes app store. Yeah, after a six month approval process it finally got released!! Yeah, I'll hold while you go download it, go now dude. Yeah go ahead, GO NOW!!

This has to be the most random, irreverent game in the app store, but it is awesomely addictive. With somewhere near seventy plus different mini games, and three modes of play, A.D.D. will, ironically, keep your attention for a good long time.

A.D.D. is entirely made up of mini games, and herein lies the genius. Instead of playing a game for hours, with the hopes of getting to the mini game bonus rounds, Iugo Mobile has taken out the main game and just left the mini games. (There is a bonus round included, but you are guaranteed to play it every ten rounds.) Each mini game only lasts for a few seconds, but each mini game uses a unique feature of the iPhone. For example, one game may use the accelerometer, while another game may use tap or swipe gestures. You can even listen to your own music while you play. All of this together makes A.D.D. a very desirable app.

A.D.D. has three modes of play. The three modes are Quickplay, Practice, and Hardcore. To be quite honest, I really don't see the difference between Quickplay and Hardcore modes except for the difference in mini games played during each mode. Each of these two modes starts by jumping straight in to the mini games and playing until you lose your last life. The one distinction I could make, was that you can't play Hardcore mode until you unlock it by beating all the challenges in Practice mode. In Practice mode there are sets of mini games which follow a theme. In my opinion, Practice mode is the best choice when playing, because you will play a wider variety of the mini games compared to the other modes.

The themes in this game may not be appropriate for all people. There is quite a bit of crude humor that not everyone will appreciate. If you don't enjoy doing things like taking a paparazzi shot up a celeb's skirt, or guiding a piece of food through a digestive tract, or spelling naughty words like MILF and TURD, then this game is not meant for you. If you do enjoy these things, then you've just hit the jackpot.

Even though the mini-games only last a few seconds each, time is truly of the essence. Every time you successfully complete each task, time is added to your score. The longer you play, and the higher the level you reach, the better you do on the leaderboards. You have the choice of submitting your score locally, or to the world leaderboard by geographic region. The in-game score board lets you filter your results for easy viewing.

I've only found one thing that needs to be improved upon in this game. Even though there are seventy or more mini games, I find myself playing the same mini games over and over again. The randomization could definately be worked on to insure that at least every game gets played. Other than that, I don't see need for any other improvements.

Priced at $2.99 in the iTunes app store, A.D.D. is definately worth adding to your iTunes wish list. Even if you don't play this game every day, you will definately find yourself returning time and time again to quell the boredom of everyday life. This is a great time-waster for when you find yourself sitting in a waiting room, or sitting in the stands at a Pep Rally waiting for the cheerleaders to come out. I can highly recommend this game to anyone who has a good sense of humor, that enjoys a fast paced, yet totally random game. Go out and grab this one now.

My Review Of Penguin Break

Penguin Break By GameFlow Entertainment

GameFlow Entertainment has taken the bubble popping game genre and made it fun again. Not only did they change the bubbles to adorable penguins, but they added the element of colored snowballs which must be thrown to clear the penguins. This new element adds a slight degree of difficulty to this hand eye coordination based game. Penguin Break also increases in difficulty as each new level is reached.

Penguin Break has two modes of play, the first of which, is Escape. In Escape Mode you are given columns of colored penguins which start out at varied heights. The object here is to throw colored snowballs at the matching colored penguins to clear them before one escapes from the top of the screen. If you find yourself unable to throw the snowballs fast enough to clear the ever-rising stacks of penguins, you can give your iPhone or iPod a shake and it will drop the higher up penguins down into the lower columns, giving you a short window of opportunity to catch up on your snowball assault. In this mode it isn't necessary to clear all the penguins, but rather to clear a certain number of peguins during the alotted time.

The second mode of play is Frenzy. Frenzy mode starts with a screen that gets totally filled with these colorful critters. The object is to throw the colored snowballs at their colored penguin counterpart to clear them from the screen. All penguins must be removed within the time limit in order to advance to the next level. In Frenzy Mode their are several powerups you can earn which help you to clear the penguins. Each powerup is explained nicely in the included tutorial menu.

Personal high scores for each mode are stored within the game, and only your top ten best scores will be recorded. The in-game scores are stored with any username or alias you wish to use. Each time you get a new high score, you have the option of connecting to Facebook and posting your score to your wall to compare with your friends. Your facebook friends' scores will also show up in the in-game top scores list under the friends tab.

Penguin Break is loads of fun, and is packed with hours of playability. If you've ever enjoyed popping balloons, or matching gems, you will enjoy playing Penguin Break. This is definately a nice spin on the classic games in this genre.

My Review Of Tweeterena Christmas Edition

Come all ye faithful and rejoice in the spirit of the holidays with Tweeterena Christmas Edition from developer Andrew Weekes. Andrew has done a beautiful job of bringing Christmas cheer to Twitter by way of a holiday version of his already hugely popular app Tweeterena. With the Christmas Edition of Tweeterena you get four festive holiday themed backgrounds, and a multitude of Christmas sounds that are sure to bring a smile to your face.

When Tweeterena Christmas Edition starts, you're greeted with a cheerful tune, which is only the first of many holiday sounds in this version. To accompany the startup tune, there is also a new sound for incoming tweets, which will induce a smile whenever your timeline is refreshed. For more festive fun, at the top left of the screen there's a new button that says "Treat", and when you tap it there's a Christmas Soundboard that has nine sounds of the holiday for you to enjoy. I won't spoil the surprise by telling you what the sounds are, because part of the Magic of Christmas is the anticipation of opening a highly anticipated present. Believe me when I say that Tweeterena updates are always highly anticipated by loyal users, because Andrew has a way of making an already perfect Twitter app even better.

Sneek Peek of Soundboard

By far the entire Tweeterena line has exceeded my expectations of what a Twitter app should be. I have been a loyal user of Tweeterena since the first version, and I have enjoyed watching it evolve into a truly top of the line social networking app, and Tweeterena Christmas Edition is the next step in the evolution of this line. Knowing Andrew as well as I do, I know that there will certainly be future updates and enhancements to this app, that will continue to add to the enjoyment of this Christmas Edition for years to come. I feel that anyone who hasn't at least tried the free version of Tweeterena is missing out on the full Twitter experience, because the whole Tweeterena line has been designed to enhance every feature that Twitter has to offer.

Priced at $1.99 in the app store, Tweeterena Christmas Edition is the perfect way to treat yourself for being good all year. I recommend this as a must have app to get you in the spirit of the holidays, and to help you spread joy to everyone around you.

My Review Of Twitdar

Twitdar From Serenity Integration

If you've ever wanted a big red button with a cover on it, you're going to love this app. It won't fire nuclear missles at your enemies, but it will send your GPS coordinates to your friends. Once you've rallied them all to your location, maybe then you can figure out how to get your hands on those nukes, or have coffee, whatever you decide.

From the time you set up Twitdar, to the time you send your first location update to Twitter, this app proves to be very user friendly with it's easy to understand instructions, and even easier to use one-button interface. Keep in mind that this is not your standard Twitter app, but rather an enhancement to your mobile Twitter experience.

Once you've connected Twitdar to your Twitter account, you'll start to see a whole new aspect of Mobile Social Networking. Twitdar may even encourage you to get outside and find new and interesting places to send location updates from.

Twitdar has two basic functions, the first of which is to allow you to update your Twitter followers with your current GPS position on Google Maps. The second function allows you to send waypoint "Tracks" to the GPS Visualizer website so your twitter friends can see your current route of travel. Your GPS position and current tracks can be sent from Twitdar in a variety of ways which are all fully customizable from the options screen, and everything is explained nicely in the included instructions screen.





From the options menu you can customize a message that will be sent along with your current GPS location or set of tracks. Through customized messages you can not only show your location, you can also give a short description of where you are or where you are going. With personalization such as this, the possibilities are endless as to ways you can use Twitdar. Whether you're showing the location where you live, or showing the route you take when you go on vacation, Twitdar will pinpoint every move you make.

Not only is Twitdar a great app, but it is backed by a great Development Team as well. I've had the pleasure of communicating with Serenity Integration through emails and Twitter, and I have to say that they are a very personable bunch of guys, with lots of patience, and I'm very impressed with their level of customer service and technical support.
